Ahn Sang Soo Ahn Sang Soo completed his education in 1981 at the Hong-Ik
University in Seoul, obtaining BFA and Master of Fine Arts Degree. He
also received Ph.D. at Hanyang University in Seoul in 1996 and Honorary
Doctor of Design in Kingston University in 2001. After college, Ahn worked
for an advertising agency for five years. From 1981 to 1985 he worked
as an art director for Madang magazine and Mot magazine. He subsequently
was president of Ahn Graphics Ltd. for six years. He is also publisher
of the underground art-culture magazine Report/Report (1988-present).
In 1991 he was offered a professorship in typography and editorial design
at Hong-Ik University, his alma mater. Ahn is vice-president 1997-2001
of ICOGRADA, International Council of Graphic Design Associations and
president 1999-2001 of VIDAK, Visual Information Design Association of
Korea. AGI member from 1999. Ahn won Grand Prize of Zgraf8 in 1998. He
was a juror of the Second Graphic Design in China 1996 competition in
Shenzhen, 1997 Beijing International Computer Art Exhibition and Tokyo
TDC Competition 1997. Ahn did individual and group exhibitions in many
countries.Ahn’s major projects include the corporate image program for
the Buddhist Broadcasting Station, the official symbol design for the
50th Anniversary of Korean Liberation (1995), a Hangul postage stamp design
(1996), Ssamzie Art Book (1997), Cultural Posters etc. Ahn Sang-Soo also
develops new Hangul Korean typefaces.
